ABSTRACT

Two hundred and seventy Isa Brown Layers (20 weeks old) were used to determine the Performance of Exotic layers Fed Raw or Boiled Pigeon Pea Meal. Each of the raw or boiled pigeon pea seed meal was included to levels of 0, 15, 20, 25 and 30% of the diet. Each treatment was replicated three times. The bird were fed raw and boiled pigeon pea seed meal, the boiled (PSM) was boiled for 30 minutes, sundry and milled while the raw one was milled and incorporated into the feed of the birds. The experiment was a 2 x 5 factorial in a Complete Randomized Design (CRD). The parameters measured were subjected to Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and these parameters includes the following; initial live weight, live weight at 6th month of lay, daily feed intake. The effect of form on the performance of hybrid birds shows significant a(P<0.05)b differences between the raw and boiled in the live weight at 6th month of lay and also there was significant a (p<0.05)b differences in the daily feed intake and also the effect of inclusion level shows similarity in the following parameters; egg weight, feed conversion ratio, hen-day production and daily feed intake. There were also significant at (p<0.05) differences in the interaction between Raw and Boiled in the initial live weight, live weight at 6th month of lay, feed conversion ratio, age at egg (Days) and egg weight in the parameters measured.
