Performance Of Broiler Chickens Fed Raw Bambara Groundnut Offal Based Diet Supplemented With Multienzyme
ABSTRACT
The experiment was conducted to determine the performance of broiler chickens fed raw Bambara groundnut offal based diet supplemented with multienzyme. One hundred and forty four birds were procured at day old and were brooded, raised for 56 days and data were collected. The Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used as the experimental design. There were four (4) treatments (Ti, T2, T3, T4) each replicated 3 times with 12 birds per replicate. Treatment one (1) was the control while the three other treatments were added raw Bambara groundnut offal based diet at different levels and supplemented with multienzyme. The experiment lasted 56 days. Parameters measured were feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, protein intake, protein efficiency ratio and feed cost were taken. Significant differences (P<O.05) were observed in the live weight of T4 and organ weights (Gizzard, kidney, large intestine). In conclusion, Bambara groundnut offal supplemented diet is necessary to reduce feed cost in broilers. The research recommends treatment two and three since they had almost the same values in all the parameters taken.
