Performance Of Broiler Chickens Fed Graded Levels Of Boiled Mucuna Sloanei Supplemented With Maxigrain Enzyme.
ABSTRACT
A 56 days of feeding trial was conducted using 120 B-Nots breeds chicks to investigate the performance of broilers chickens fed boiled Mucuna sloanei supplemented with Maxigrain® enzymes. The birds were allocated into 4 dietary treatments. Each treatment was replicated thrice and each replicate had 10 birds in a completely randomized design (CRD). TI was the control treatment while T2, 13 and T4 contained boiled mucuna sloanei supplemented with maxigrain enzymes replacing soya bean at 10%, 20%, and 30% respectively Feed and water were given adlibitum. Growth performance and carcass were measured. Boiled Mucuna sloanei contained the following anti nutritional factors, Hydrogen cyanide (22.1 7mg/kg), L-Dopa (%) 4.15 and trypsin inhibitors (13.32T1U/mg). The feed conversion ratio for T2 (5.38) compared favorably with that of 11(4.78). Carcass yield result shows significant difference (P<0.05) in all the parameters measured, 12 (83.69%) had the highest value for %dressed weight. In conclusion, based on similarity of Ti and 12 for growth performance and better performance of 12 for % dress weight. T2 (2.70% of boiled mucuna sloanei in placed of soya bean) compared favorably with control diet and hence recommended.
