ABSTRACT
The food intake of a sedentary
individual is essential in the maintenance of optimum health. Nutritional
status of a sedentary individual is a function of food intake and physical
activity. Optimal combination of both affect positively, the state of health of
these individuals. This project was carried out using ANOVA to compare the Body
Mass Index (BMI) and serum cholesterol of business executives in Warn, South
South Geo-political zone. It was found that more individuals in Warn were obese
and had higher serum cholesterol profiles than individuals in Umuahia.
Regression analysis was used to establish a relationship between food intake
and nutritional status and it was found that certain foods status foods like
meat and cookies, as well as the distance from home of individuals to points of
food purchase, storage and cooking facilities had impacts at varying levels of
significance, on the nutritional status of these business executives. It is
necessary that sedentary individuals make out time to exercise regularly and
constantly keep an eye on what they eat so as to obtain and maintain optimal
health.
