ABSTRACT
This study investigated renal impairment in 30 type 2 diabetic subjects. From results, mean urine albumin (>2.70 0.4gIL) and glucose concentrations (16.66 ± i.80rnm01/L) were above the normal range in 4 (65%) of the 6 patients investigated. There was also a significant difference (P< 0.05) in the mean serum urea (15.32 ~ 0.51 mmollL) and creatinirie (182.10 ± 2.29mmo1/L) concentrations of type 2 diabetics as compared with normal subjects. Mean body mass index (BMI) was similar between the two groups, however, it was observed that there was no decline in the mean glomerular filtration rates (2.84 + ft81m/s 1) of type 2 subtexts.
