ABSTRACT
This project focuses
on automatic irrigation system that incorporates the theory of digital control
and feedback system with irrigation. In this system of irrigation, critical
information (irrigating time) which is sent to a circuit controller is provided
by a modern, corresponding to real time. The controller uses this information
to schedule irrigation by turning on or off the sprinkler valve that supplies
water to the farmland. This automatic irrigation system supplies water as
needed, thus optimizing plant growth and help conserve water and energy. This
system could be• the solution to all year round food production, or better
still, achieving the arability of every land. We see a possibility where almost
any land in the arid and semi-arid regions of Nigeria can be used to grow food
crops, provided its major set-back is tackled using an effective irrigation
system. This device is achievable using locally available materials such as;
transistor, capacitor, GSM modern etc.
