                                                               ABSTRACT

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the performance of haematological and biochemical characteristics of West African dwarf (WAD) goat fed processed dietary poultry droppings. Nine (9) WAD goats aged between 4 and 6 months with average weight of 9.0kg were assigned to three treatment groups in a completely randomized design experiment with 3 goats per treatment. The three diets Ti, T2, and T contained 0% (Ti) poultry dropping, 10% (T2) sundried poultry droppings. Date measured included daily weight changed daily feed intake, Heart Girth Change (HGC) haematological and biochemical parameters. Concentrate daily dry matter intake were 184.65; 150.05g and 183.62g for Ti, T2, and T respectively and showed lower (p<0.05) intake for the Y2 group than Ti, T groups. The forage daily dry matter intake were 494.04g, 569.70g and 555.66g and this was significantly (p<0.05) higher in the T2group than T1, and T groups HGC values of 5.67cm, 2.33cm and 4.67cm for Ti, T2, and T respectively was lower (p<0.05) in T2 group but the HWC values of 5.00cm, 4.67 cm and 4.00cm for Ti, T2, and T respectively were 12.30g/dl. 11.30g/dl and 12.0g/dl, 37.0%, 34.0% and 36.0% for Ti, T2, and T respectively these values were consistently higher (p<0.05) in these values of 39.0 x 103/mm3was significantly (p<0.05) higher in T2group than Ti,and T . Neutrophil and lymphocyte was higher I T than Ti and T . Urea content of the blood were 61.0mg/dl, 78.omg/dl and 79.omg/di for Ti, 'F2, and T respectively and this indicated lower (p<0.05) value for the Ti group than T2and T3 groups. This study showed that processed poultry droppings could be included up to 10% in the diets of goats without adverse effect on the performance and physiological functions of the animals. However, the sundried poultry dropping being a straight forward processing method might be recommended.
