ABSTRACT

Effective   management   and decision  making  has remained  a big problem  in both small,    medium   scale   and  the  banking   sector   in  Nigeria.   Hence   the  need  to handle  this  prompted   this  research   study  on  financial   management:     a panacea for effective  management   and  decision  making  in organizations.   The 'objective of  the  study   is  to  analyze   the  effect  of  financial   management    tools    on  the profitability   and  decision    making  of the  organization.   The  data   collected    were analyzed    and   presented    using    tables.    The   hypotheses    were   tested    using Pearson's   correlation   analysis.    For the  first  hypothesis,     the  null hypothesis     was accepted.   For  the  second   hypothesis,     the  null  hypothesis     was  rejected.    The major  findings  made  were  that  the  working  capital   of  banks  was  not  properly managed   and  the  gross  earnings   of  the  selected    banks  were  not  sufficient    to satisfy  shareholders   needs.  On  recommendation,    banks  should  pay  attention  to their  working   capital   (current   asset)  since  it  is  concerned   with  the  everyday running  of the business   and  also  to help  in  effective   management   and  decision making  in organizations.
