Emperical Analysis Of The Determinants On Deposit Mobilization Of Commercial Banks In Nigeria
ABSTRACT
The study empirically analyzed the determinants of deposit mobilization in Nigeria
from 1995 to 2017. The determinants of deposit mobilization considered in [lie study
was money supply, interest role and number of bank branches in Nigeria. The data
collected was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Based on the results, ii was
found that money supply had ci positive and signficant effect on deposit mobilization,
while interest rate number of commercial banks branches were negative but
insignflcant. It was recommended among other things that banks have to also search
for other alternative fund sources such as sale of their shares, bonds and loan
securitization and sales during the severe liquidity problems. Inter-bank lending could
be other sources f the market warrants.
