ABSTRACT

Working capital management refers to all aspects of administration of both current assets and current liabilities used for the day -  to -  day activities of the firm. Inefficient management as well as over investment in working capital components may be dangerous to the firm.  The main purpose of this study is to ascertain the effect  of working  capital  on the performance  of some selected manufacturing companies in Nigeria.  To carryout this research study,  research questions were formulated in line with the objectives of the study and was administered to the staff of the selected companies.  The data obtained were analyzed using tables, descriptive statistics, and chi-square statistical .echniques  was used in testing the hypotheses. Based on the result of the hypotheses  tested, the findings showed that the value of working capital management are tl.e necessary condition for a firm to remain stable and profitable. Based on this, recommendations were made that the company should ensure effective management of working capital which will no doubt guarantee improved achievement of their objectives.
