ABSTRACT

It is a mandatory issue that every students must carry out registration process before beingproperly registered and assigned a registration number, thus such has been playing a rigorous andtedious toll on the screening officers and students. Some tertiary institutions still uses manual screening and registration process, which result in time wasting and consumption, tiringeffectson the officers and students as most students stand all day without being attended to andinmost cases come back for the same work next day or as needed leading to resource wastage. Tocomball this menace that the current system propagates, which is the manual method of carryingout students screening and registration, this study was set out to develop an online portal that will serve as a more efficient alternative to the current student registration process. The objectiveofthe study was to; provide an online portal that reduces the need to form queues at the screeningoffice, reduce the stress that the screening officers faces by moving the registrants to anonlinesystem, reduce the time taken to attend to a student by providing a system that allows a real timeresponse and multiple simultaneous registration and also provide an accurate documentationsystem for the recording of student data and registration number assigning. The methodologyused for this project work was the SSADM, which fully means Structured SystemAnalysis andDesign Methodology. The type of SSADM used is the Data Flow Model because it breaks downthe project research into stages, steps, modules and tasks. The programming languageusedinclude JAVASCIPT and the database management used include MYSQL. In the designandimplementation of an improved real time admission screening system, the researcher was abletodevelop an online portal that provides a real time response for student screening and registration.
