ABSTRACT

Insurance is the equitable transfer of the risk of a loss, from one entity to another in exchange for payment. It is a form of risk management primarily used to hedge against the risk of a contingent, uncertain loss. The aim of the study is to Design and Implement a Computerized Insurance Application and Registration System. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to design and implement an application software that will fully automate insurance application processing and decrease processing time and web application errors, display detailed information about the different types o insurance policies provided and minimize multiple fraudulent claims and provide easy verification of all policies issued. The motivation that led to this proposed system is that the work carried out in an insurance company is done manually, clients’ documents may be difficult to store and maintain due to human errors. There is also high risk of fraudulent activities due to freedom of human discretion. The methodology adopted in this study is the structured system analysis and design methodology (SSADM) which is a technical approach for analyzing and designing an application or system by applying object throughout the software development process. The programming language used is HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL and JQUERY. The reason why web programming languages was used is because, it is platform independent and it is a web based application. This project will be of benefit to: Enterprises, Shopping Malls/Supermarkets and many large companies like; waste companies, and Power holding companies. The expected result is a Computerized Insurance Application and Registration System that will effective insurance service monitoring by policy holders over the web without office visitation.
