ABSTRACT
The microcontroller based obstacle detector is an intelligent safety system
developed to alert and protect visually impaired persons from obstacles and
possible accident. The system is intended to provide overall measures: Artificial
vision, object detection and real-time assistance. This device is constructed in a
way to detect obstacles on the way within a distance of one meter from the device
and consist of a proximity sensor, dual feedback system which includes a sub-
circuit consisting of a vibratory system circuit and an audio system. The system
also consists of rnicrocontrol Icr, capacitors, resistors, transistors; compatible
battery (DC) and other electrical components carefully assembled on a Vero board
with a jumper which in turn gives the desired result of obstacle detection using the
principle of reflection.
