ABSTRACT
A study was conducted to evaluate the performance of frizzle and naked neck local chickens in a hot-humid environment. A total of fifty-eight (58) chicks hatched in five (5) batches were utilized in the study, which lasted for thirty-five (35) days. Results of the experiment showed that the frizzle genotype was heavier for body weight and had longer linear body parameters such as body length (BL), wing length (WL), keel length (KL), shank length (SL), and thigh circumference (T8); although, these parameters were statistically not significant (p>O.OS). In week one (1), the frizzle birds recorded higher average feed intake (AFT), average weight gain (AWG) and average water intake (AWl). However, this trend did continue over the weeks. Al! growth indicators correlated with body weight showed high and positive correlation (p<O.OI) with KL having highest R2 value among the growth parameters considered.
