ABSTRACT

The focus ofthis study was to ascertain the relevance ofBudgeting as a tool for enhancing efficiency of corporation. The specific objectives were to determine; the relevance of budgeting as tool for planning and control in business organization; the possible effect of non-existence of budget on the performance of business organization and whether budgeting is actually an effective tool for profitability. The study adopted the Survey design. For the study sample, the selection sampling as well as stratified random sampling technique were adopted. The primary data was sourced for the study through the use of well-structured questionnaire. Regression analysis was used as the research analysis technique to determine the relationship and the level to which the independent variable affects the dependent variable. The study revealed that financial performance as measured by ROA is strongly influenced by using of budget (coefficient 0.035) and managerial performance, (Coefficient 0.016) respectively. It concluded that the interactions use of budget and managerial performance of the two factors create an impetus for financial performance as measured by ROA. Hence recommends that Manufacturing firms listed in NSE should adopt strategies to enhance Budget and Managerial performance since they exert strong influence on financial performance as measured by ROA and that there is need for higher institutions to develop advanced courses on budgeting control as it will help organizations who employ such in enhancing their growth performance.
