ABSTRACT
The need to eradicate the manual
system of storing data in shopping malls introduces an electronic data storage
and processing method which embraces the modern trend of technology of
computerized method of storing and processing data. This cannot be achieved
without involving two important terms intranet system and customized web based
software to run on the intranet system. The intranet system is a private
computer network that uses Internet protocols and network connectivity to
securely share any part of an organization's intonation. Sometimes the term
refers only to the organization's internal website, but often it is a more
extensive part of the organization's computer infrastructure and private
websites are an important component and focal point of internal communication
and collaboration. The customized web based software to achieve this automation
is 3 tier (interface, logics and database) software developed on a visual
studio. net platform using Assent with vb. netscript and Ms-Access database.
The essence of using a web based software and an intranet system is to achieve
greater accessibility, efficiency and speed. In this case, the sales officer at
the point of sale section of the mall can input sells data into the system
using the application which sits on the system server of the intranet while the
sales and purchase manager can from his office create new purchased product, edit
delete if necessary, view product information, sales information without
scanning through lots of file cabinet to achieve this.
