ABSTRACT
The essence of this study was to
assess the social risk in Nigeria; and the implications on FDI. The researcher
was motivated to choose this topic because; the level of social risk in Nigeria
was becoming too alarming and uncurbed. Hence, the need to x-ray the
implications on Nigeria investment environment, which if checked, will help
restore foreign investors' confidence and aid in resuscitating the dwindling
economy. Questionnaires were distributed as a source of primary data and
secondary data to compliment in actualizing the objectives. In analyzing the
data, research - questions and testing of hypothesis, simple descriptive
statistics, simple statistics (Bar chart) and multiple regression analysis was
employed. Hence the following were the findings; south south geo-political zone
is mostly at risk or risk endemic, corruption and poor infrastructure was found
to be the major problem confronting FDl. Kidnapping mostly influenced FDl,
which were prevalent in - south south and southeast zone, there is a
significant positive relationship between FIJI in flow and output in the
economy. Based on the findings some of the recommendations made were,
government should empower EFCC more in their war against corruption, embark on
capita projects to improve infrastructure, intensify efforts by formulating
more policies that will not be inimical to FIJI and most importantly improve
the level of security in the country as this will help reduce social risk.
