ABSTRACT

The  topic:   "appraisal   of   oil   revenue   allocation,    it's   management    and economic impact   to  states  and  local  governments"    is   a   review   of  the management  and economic  impacts of revenue on the development   of the state. This     study    explored    various    materials:     textbooks,     Journals, Government   official   gazettes,·  Magazines  and  newspapers  extensively    to provide a   comparative   base for  assessing the  principles   of  allocation   of revenue in   Nigeria.   The  researcher   applied   survey   techniques    in  the research method  and the  population   studied  is  658298. The sample size is 272.  The  research  tools  used was questionnaire.   The data  collected  from the   field   was  arranged   and  analyzed   using  statistical   tools   of  tables, percentages   and  proportion  ratios   in  arriving   at  the  findings.       These findings   are:  Oil  revenue  allocations   brought   note-able   contributions    in transformation of Abia state, and development   windows  are brought  closer to the  people.  Secondly, that  much better  and more  efficient management strategies  are required  to  provide  better  living  standards  in the  welfare  of the   people.   The   recommendations     were:   first,   Financial   Management courses  and  seminars  could  be  introduced   for  every  senior  government officials.     Lastly,  as a   matter   of  academic  research  interest   of  students should  be sensitized  in the  state  economy  because  the  z i"   century  is    a period  of  growth   and  phenomenal   transformation  through   a   technology driven development   for the national  economy. After   due  consideration    of  all  facts  from  this  comprehensive   study,  the available information  point   to   an  obvious   conclusion   that   oil  revenue allocation in Nigeria  faces challenges  in its management.   Indeed,  it  is  the devastating  impact  of corruption,   arising largely  from  strategies  that  slows down  and retards  economic  growth  and development   which  is  responsible for the growth  rate in Abia State,
