Adoption Of Yam Minisett Technique In Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area Of Imo-State
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to determine the
adoption of yam mini sett technique by farmers in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local
Government Area of Imo-state. The respondents comprised of 100 farmers who were
randomly selected. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were
used to analyse the data collected. Of the regression models, the double log
function was chosen as the lead equation. Results of the study revealed that
98% of the respondents were aware of the yam minisett technique. The percentage
of sampled farmers who adopted the yam minisett technique (64%) was ·•
relatively high. Level of education, farm size,' years of experience in
farming, membership of cooperative society, intensity of extension contact and
tenurial status were all found to be significant determinants of adoption of
yam minisett technique. Lack of fund was identified as the major constraint to
the adoption of yam minisett technique. Others include high cost and scarcity
of inputs, tedious and technical nature of the procedure involved in the yam
minisett technique.
